It breaks our heart to share that Debbie Fugett (Baird), passed away on May 21st at the age of 73. Born on July 9, 1952, to Chad Baird and Ellen Cremens, Debbie brought so much light, warmth, and incredible music into this world.
For those who spent time with her in the Lawrence and Kansas City music scene, we knew Debbie was an absolute force. She was a powerhouse musician, and it came as no surprise to any of us when she was officially inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame (KMHoF) in 2015. Beyond the accolades, it was her passion, her creativity, and the way she could light up a room that we will all miss so deeply.
Debbie shared a beautiful, deeply cherished life with her husband, Lonnie Fugett. Lonnie is currently at their home just outside of Perry, Kansas. Please keep him close in your thoughts and send him all the strength and love in the world as he navigates this profound loss.
Friends and family are getting together to celebrate Debbie the exact way she’d want us to—by sharing memories, laughter, and a few good stories.
